Registered Nurse (RN) – Corrections

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while ensuring compliance with facility policies, professional nursing standards, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Provide direct patient care, including wound care, chronic disease management, and health education.
  • Conduct intake screenings and ongoing health evaluations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health professionals, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Monitor and manage patients with acute, chronic, and mental health conditions.
  • Participate in emergency response situations and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient rights in accordance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous correctional, psychiatric, emergency room, medical-surgical, or public health experience is a plus.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and secure environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Medication administration and treatment management.
  • Emergency response and triage experience.
  • Knowledge of correctional healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
